Statcut Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 15, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Statcut ("Statcut," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you access or use the Statcut mobile application, websites, and related services (collectively, the "Service").

IMPORTANT: The Service is a performance analytics tool. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
Fitbit integration: If you connect a Fitbit account, Statcut will access Fitbit user data only with your authorization, only to provide the user-facing features of the Service, and in accordance with the Fitbit User Data and Developer Policy.

1) Who this policy applies to

This policy applies to: (a) individual athletes/players ("Players"), (b) coaches/teams/organizations ("Teams"), and (c) other users who create an account or interact with the Service.

2) Information we collect

2.1 Information you provide

  • Account information: name, email address, password or authentication credentials, team affiliation, role (player/coach/admin).
  • User content you upload or submit: game/practice footage, clips, photos, tags, notes, training logs, and other content you choose to provide.
  • Support communications: messages you send to customer support, surveys, or feedback.

2.2 Information collected from connected devices and third parties (e.g., Fitbit)

If you connect a wearable or third-party account (such as Fitbit), we may collect the categories of data you authorize, which may include heart rate, heart rate variability, activity, sleep, workouts, and timestamps ("Biometric & Health Data"). The exact data depends on the permissions you grant.

You can disconnect a third-party integration at any time. If you revoke access in your Fitbit/third-party settings, our access will end for future data pulls.

2.3 Information collected automatically

  • Device and usage data: app events, feature usage, IP address, device identifiers, OS version, app version, crash logs, and approximate location derived from IP.
  • Cookies and similar technologies on our website (where applicable).

3) How we use information

We use information to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Service (including syncing wearables, generating performance insights, and enabling tagging and analytics).
  • Personalize your experience and show you your own stats, trends, and insights.
  • Enable Team features when a Player is linked to a Team (see Section 5).
  • Improve and develop the Service, including model training using de-identified/aggregated data and anonymized footage as described in Section 6.
  • Security, fraud prevention, troubleshooting, and debugging.
  • Communications (service notices, updates, and customer support).
  • Compliance with legal obligations and enforcement of our terms.

4) Legal bases (EEA/UK)

Where GDPR applies, we process information based on: (a) performance of a contract (providing the Service), (b) your consent (e.g., for Fitbit/wearables and certain training uses), (c) legitimate interests (e.g., security and service improvement), and (d) compliance with legal obligations.

5) Sharing and disclosure

5.1 Sharing with your Team (role-based access)

If you join or are added to a Team account, your data may be shared with authorized Team users (e.g., coaches, designated staff) as part of the Service's core features. Teams must obtain any required consents from Players before collecting or uploading Player data. Statcut is not responsible for a Team's independent use of Player data.

You control whether you connect a wearable integration; if connected, the resulting Biometric & Health Data may be visible to authorized Team users if you are linked to that Team and the Team feature is enabled for your account.

5.2 Service providers

We share information with vendors who help us operate the Service (e.g., hosting, analytics, error monitoring, customer support). They are contractually required to protect information and use it only for providing services to us.

5.3 Legal, safety, and business transfers

  • To comply with law, legal process, or lawful requests.
  • To protect rights, safety, and security of users, Statcut, or the public.
  • In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to applicable law and, where required, your consent.

5.4 No selling / no advertising use of Fitbit data

We do not sell Fitbit user data or use Fitbit user data for advertising, including personalized or interest-based advertising, consistent with Fitbit's policies.

6) Footage & AI/model training

Statcut uses computer vision and machine learning to improve automatic detection and analytics. With your permission (and/or as provided in your Team agreement), footage and related tags may be used to train and improve models. Training use is done in a privacy-protective way:

  • We de-identify content where feasible (e.g., removing direct identifiers, separating account identifiers from training datasets, using randomized IDs).
  • We use footage and labels in aggregated and/or de-identified form for internal operations and product improvement.
  • We do not publish your raw footage publicly without your explicit permission.

You may opt out of training use of your footage and associated labels where required by law or where we provide an opt-out control (see Section 10).

7) Data retention

We retain information for as long as necessary to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and for legitimate business purposes. Retention periods vary by data type:

  • Account data: retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward.
  • Footage: retained until you delete it or your account/Team removes it, subject to backups and legal holds.
  • Wearable data: retained while needed for your user-facing analytics and until you delete it or disconnect the integration, subject to legal obligations.
  • De-identified/aggregated data: may be retained longer for analytics and product improvement.

8) Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and encryption at rest for sensitive data and tokens where appropriate, access controls, and least-privilege permissions. No system is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9) Your choices and rights

9.1 Access, correction, export, deletion

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, and to restrict or object to certain processing. You can also request deletion of data associated with your account (including connected wearable data) by using in-app controls (if available) or contacting us.

9.2 Consent controls (biometric data)

Biometric & Health Data is sensitive. You must provide affirmative, informed consent before we collect it through a wearable integration. You can withdraw consent at any time by disconnecting the integration and/or requesting deletion.

9.3 California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you may have rights to know, delete, correct, and opt out of the sale/sharing of personal information. Statcut does not sell personal information and does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

9.4 Illinois and other biometric laws

Where biometric privacy laws apply (e.g., Illinois BIPA), we provide required notices and obtain written or equivalent affirmative consent before collecting biometric identifiers or biometric information, and we follow retention and destruction requirements.

10) Managing and deleting your data (Fitbit requirement)

You can manage and delete your Statcut data as follows:

  • Disconnect Fitbit: In Statcut, navigate to Settings → Integrations → Fitbit → Disconnect (or equivalent).
  • Revoke Fitbit access: In your Fitbit account settings, revoke Statcut's access to your Fitbit data (this stops future data access).
  • Delete data: Use in-app deletion controls where available or contact us at contact@statcut.com to request deletion.
  • Delete account: You may request account deletion in-app or by contacting contact@statcut.com.

11) International transfers

If we transfer personal information across borders, we use appropriate safeguards as required by law (such as standard contractual clauses where applicable).

12) Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 where applicable). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in these age groups. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us.

13) Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide notice through the Service or by other means as required by law.
